(ALLEN, KENTUCKY) The Kinzer Motorsports team and Allen, Kentucky
driver Brandon Kinzer recently returned home from a weeklong stay
in the Sunshine State of Florida, as they competed in "Raceweeks
2007" at the Volusia Speedway Park in Barberville, Florida
from February 12-17. Against some of the stiffest Dirt Late Model
competition in the country, Brandon performed admirably behind the
wheel of his #18 GRT machine. After narrowly missing the A-Main
on three different occasions and waiting through a pair of rain-outs,
BK finally broke through during the $10,000 to win finale at the
Daytona Beach venue on Saturday evening, February 17.
BK timed in a disappointing fifty-fifth fastest in qualifying for
the 360 OTC World of Outlaws Late Model Series show on Saturday
night, but rallied his machine to a sixth place finish in the heat
race and a second place effort in the B-Main. His runner-up performance
to Dirt Late Model Hall of Famer Billy Moyer in the consolation
event earned Brandon the right to compete in the 50-lap feature
race. After rolling off twenty-second on the starting grid for the
A-Main, Brandon completed forty-nine green flag laps and was credited
with a twenty-fourth place finish in the final rundown. You can
view all of the results from the week at Volusia online at www.umpracing.com
and www.worldofoutlaws.com!
"I think we actually had a better car than our finishes showed,"
commented Kinzer in a recent telephone conversation. "We just
had some bad luck here and there and we didn't qualify all that
great. Against that kind of competition, the better you qualify
obviously gives you a higher chance of making the show. But we will
put Florida behind us and gear up for the rest of the 2007 racing
season."
Brandon and his #18 team will be taking this weekend off from Dirt
Late Model competition, but are scheduled to be back in action on
Sunday, March 4. The newly configured Cherokee Speedway in Gaffney,
South Carolina will play host to its annual 'March Madness' event.
The O'Reilly Southern Allstars Series will sanction the $10,000
to win show at the track formerly known as the "Place Your
Momma Warned You About." BK finished tenth in last year's version
of 'March Madness.' For more information concerning this show, please
