(ALLEN, KENTUCKY) Brandon Kinzer and his #18 team invaded the newly
reconfigured Cherokee Speedway in Gaffney, South Carolina on Sunday,
March 4 for the annual 'March Madness' event. After a strong qualifying
effort and a third place run in his heat race, Brandon rolled off
from the outside of the sixth row for the O'Reilly Southern Allstars
Series (OSAS) feature event. Following sixty green flag racing laps
at the new 3/8-mile oval, the Allen, Kentucky native was credited
for a fourteenth place performance in the $10,000 to win show.
"We practiced well on Saturday, but the track conditions were
different on Sunday and we were just off a little bit," stated
Kinzer recently via telephone. "The good thing is that we got
a lot of laps over the weekend and hopefully we learned some things
about the car that will help us in the future. (Eventual winner)
Clint (Smith) was on a rail the whole day on Sunday, so I think
everyone is scratching their heads right now trying to figure out
how to catch him."
The Kinzer Motorsports team is slated to take the upcoming weekend
off from Dirt Late Model competition, but will be back in action
on Saturday, March 17 at the Cleveland Speedway in Cleveland, Tennessee.
The O'Reilly Southern Allstars Series (OSAS) will sanction the annual
'Shamrock 60' at Cleveland and a $7,500 payday is up for grabs.
The team may also decide to enter a $3,000 to win, unsanctioned
event at the North Georgia Speedway in Chatsworth, Georgia on Friday,
March 16, but those plans are currently up in the air. More information
on Brandon's upcoming schedule will be made available in next week's
press release!
