Brandon Kinzer Fourth in 'Spring Thaw 100'; Doubleheader Weekend on Horizon!

(ALLEN, KENTUCKY) The Kinzer Motorsports team, with Allen, Kentucky driver Brandon Kinzer behind the wheel of their #18 GRT machine, posted their best finish of the young 2008 racing season on March 21-22 at the Volunteer Speedway in Bulls Gap, Tennessee! Brandon timed in sixth fastest in Advance Auto Parts Thunder Series (AAPTS) qualifying on Friday, March 21 and later won his competitive heat race. His impressive heat race triumph earned him a coveted starting spot in one of the dashes on Saturday, March 22.

When the Dirt Late Model action resumed at "The Gap" on Saturday, Brandon ran third in the dash to earn the inside second row starting position for the $10,000 to win 'Spring Thaw 100.' The #18 team did a magnificent job of setting up Brandon's car for the 100-lap A-Main, as Brandon ran amongst the leaders for the entire race around the 4/10-mile, high-banked oval, eventually bringing his ride home in the fourth position behind winner Jimmy Owens, Scott Bloomquist, and Vic Hill. "I was very pleased with how our weekend went at the Gap last weekend," commented Kinzer this week. "The car ran good and we were able to run up front with some of the best in the business. Hopefully, that trend will continue at North Georgia and Cleveland this upcoming weekend. There should be a stout car count at each of those races, so qualifying up front will be key at both of those places."

The #18 team will compete in an O'Reilly Southern Allstars Series (OSAS) doubleheader weekend in Georgia and Tennessee over the next couple days. The North Georgia Speedway in Chatsworth, Georgia will play host to the annual 'Ernest Young Memorial' tonight, March 28, and a $5,000 top prize is up for grabs. The action will then turn to the Cleveland Speedway in Cleveland, Tennessee on Saturday evening, March 29 for the $7,500 to win 'Shamrock' event.
