Brandon Kinzer Heads to "The Gap" Following Busy
Memorial Day Weekend!
(ALLEN, KENTUCKY) Brandon Kinzer and his #18 team were very busy
over the Memorial Day holiday weekend, as they entered a pair of
high-profile Dirt Late Model events in Missouri and Tennessee. Their
weekend kicked off on Friday and Saturday, May 23-24 at the West
Plains Motor Speedway in West Plains, Missouri. The venerable 3/8-mile,
red-clay oval played host to the 16th Annual 'Show-Me 100' and a
whopping $42,000 top prize was up for grabs.
Brandon timed in twelfth quickest of the nearly 80 entrants during
qualifying on Friday night, May 23 and later ran a strong second
in his heat race to advance to the 100-lap main event. When the
action resumed on Saturday evening, the Allen, Kentucky native rolled
off from the outside of the sixth row for the 'Show-Me 100.' Brandon
sported a good racecar throughout the mega-event and was hovering
around the top ten when he was involved in a late race incident
that relegated him to a fifteenth place performance. You can view
complete results from West Plains online at www.westplains-speedway.com.
Following the 'Show-Me 100,' the Kinzer Motorsports team invaded
the Duck River Speedway in Wheel, Tennessee on Sunday, May 25. The
Southern Regional Racing Series (SRRS) sanctioned a $5,000 to win
show at Duck River and Brandon paced the stout field during qualifying.
After starting from the pole position for the 50-lap main event,
BK ran amongst the leaders throughout the crazy race and was eventually
credited for a third place effort behind winner Dane Dacus and runner-up
Ray Cook. You can view complete results from this event online at
www.southernregionalracingseries.com.
"We had a pretty good weekend at West Plains and Duck River,"
commented Kinzer this week. "My car was getting better late
during the Show-Me 100, but unfortunately I got caught up in that
wreck in turn two. I was already committed to the top of the racetrack
and was in the wrong place at the wrong time I guess. Then at Duck
River, I led a couple of laps early, but the car was just too tight
for me to run up front with (Ray) Cook and (Randy) Weaver. We still
salvaged a third place finish out of the deal and we will now turn
our focus on Bulls Gap this weekend!"
The Kinzer Motorsports team will travel to the Volunteer Speedway
in Bulls Gap, Tennessee on Saturday night, May 31. The 'Pontiac
Excitement 50' will take place at "The Gap" this Saturday
and a $3,000 top prize is on the line. The action-packed night will
be highlighted by a 50-lap feature event for the Super Late Models.
