(ALLEN, KENTUCKY) The Kinzer Motorsports team made their yearly
trip to the West Plains Motor Speedway in West Plains, Missouri
over the Memorial Day holiday weekend to compete in the 15th Annual
O'Reilly 'Show-Me 100.' Brandon Kinzer timed in twenty-third fastest
of the seventy-three entrants in qualifying on Friday night, May
25 and later won his heat race by defeating Kellen Chadwick and
Jimmy Mars. The Allen, Kentucky native then rolled off from the
inside of the third row for the $41,000 to win A-Main on Saturday
evening.
Brandon hung around the top ten during the first half of the 100-lap
feature event, but was involved in an incident with Michael England
on a lap sixty restart. Even after sustaining some damage to his
#18 GRT machine, Brandon was still able to finish fifteenth in the
final rundown of the mega-event. By virtue of his strong qualifying
effort on Friday night, BK was also eligible for the Manufacturer's
Dash on Saturday and he represented GRT Race Cars by JB Performance
to the tune of a fifth place effort.
"It was a good weekend for us, but I think we had a much better
car than our fifteenth place finish indicates," commented Kinzer
via telephone this week. "I was able to stay with the leaders
through the early part of the race, but then I just killed the tires
racing so hard with (Steve) Francis. But anytime you can run fifteenth
and get over $4,000, you head back home pretty happy."
Brandon and his #18 team will be back in action this Saturday evening,
June 2 at the 201 Speedway in Sitka, Kentucky. A $1,500 top prize
is up for grabs in an unsanctioned event at the nearby speedplant.
Following this race, the team will prepare for the upcoming $100,000
to win 'Dream 100' at the Eldora (OH) Speedway, which will take
place on June 8-9.
