(ALLEN, KENTUCKY) Brandon Kinzer and his #18 team invaded the Volunteer
State of Tennessee over the weekend to compete in a pair of Lucas
Oil Late Model Dirt Series shows. On Friday night, July 6, the Tazewell
Speedway in Tazewell, Tennessee played host to a $10,000 to win
event. Brandon finished second in his heat race to earn the outside
third row starting spot for the 75-lap A-Main. BK ran up front throughout
the feature event and wound up sixth in the final finishing order
behind winner Jimmy Owens, Scott James, Scott Bloomquist, Brady
Smith, and Steve Casebolt.
The exciting wheel-to-wheel action then turned to the Volunteer
Speedway in Bulls Gap, Tennessee on Saturday evening for another
$10,000 to win race. Brandon once again finished second in his heat
race and later rolled off from the eighth position for the A-Main.
The Allen, Kentucky native was on a rail during the feature at the
"Gap," as he drove his pristine Kinzer Drilling / Eastco
Supply / Quality Oil & Gas / Art's Radiator & Welding /
Commonwealth Chiropractic Center #18 GRT machine to a third place
performance behind winner Scott Bloomquist and runner-up Brady Smith.
All of the action from Saturday evening was taped by the cameras
of the SPEED Channel for viewing later in the year!
"It was an awesome weekend for us at Tazewell and Bulls Gap,"
commented Kinzer this week! "We had a good car at Tazewell
on Friday night, but the track took rubber late in the race and
we weren't able to gain any positions. Then at Bulls Gap on Saturday,
I think we may have had something for leaders late in that race.
I was gaining on them and racing Brady (Smith) hard for second when
that last caution came out. I sure didn't need that yellow flag,
but we will still take a third and a sixth against that kind of
competition!"
The Kinzer Motorsports team will be back in action tonight, July
11 at the Florence Speedway in Union, Kentucky. The rain-postponed
'Spring 50' will take place at the King family's 1/2-mile, high-banked
oval tonight and a $5,000 top prize is up for grabs. The race will
be 50-laps in length and will be sanctioned by the O'Reilly NARA
Battle of the Bluegrass Series. For more information on the race
tonight at Florence, please access www.battleofthebluegrass.com!
The #18 team will then take the July 13-14 weekend off in preparation
for the upcoming O'Reilly Southern Nationals Series, which will
kick off Monday, July 16 at the Wythe Raceway in Rural Retreat,
Virginia. The competitive series boasts a schedule of ten races
in a matter of only thirteen days with shows in Virginia, South
Carolina, North Carolina, Georgia, and Tennessee. More information
on the series will be made available in next week's press release!
